So much fun today. Seriously. Almost no work done, but that goes without saying when you share your birthday with your animation professor and the entire class is preparing a surprise party.
Over the weekend several of us from both the 2D and 3D classes drew our own interpretations of our professor, Chris, and we compiled them into a Happy Birthday collage as part of his birthday surprise. We came in early to school to have it printed from a shop nearby and hung it on his office door, and also projected a digital image onto the far wall during the party. Unfortunately for my classmates I arrived my usual twenty minutes before ten a.m. today, which meant the decorating of the animation room with balloons and colored crete paper wasn't going to be a surprise for me.
In fact we spent all morning taping up balloons, a 'Happy Birthday' sign, and drawing goofy pictures on the glass doors with whiteboard markers ... only to find out later that our professor might not swing by our classroom at all on account of having meetings all day. In the end we recruited one of the other faculty - Adrian, a teacher for the first year students - to join our cause. He kept an eye on Chris during his smoke break so we knew when to turn out the lights and hide, and even told him that "Sherly, one of the students, is crying in your office. She needs help for her concept, you'd better get up there quick."
So up he went and finally at around 1:30 p.m. we were able to spring our surprise on him. He'd been having a really shoddy morning, but at seeing all the work we'd put in for his birthday he lightened up immediately. Both classes of 29 students had even pitched together their money to buy him a cake ... and for me as well! Sneaky buggers, the lot of them ...

And not to leave you fellows out, here's a feature for the great Birthday Art I got this year. Seriously guys, you make me feel like I'm worth something!
I also got a limited-edition 12-inch cloak-mode Scar Predator figure from my best mates Siti and Livia as an additional birthday present! It was really a great, fun birthday this year - also sort of nostalgic since this is my final year at LASALLE with all these great people. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes and the surprise parties and the gift art! It really means a lot to me and made for one fantastic day. Thank you so, so much!
