Life Update - HAT News, etc.
Journal Entry: Sat Aug 24, 2013, 10:24 AM

Hullo my fellow Deviants,
It's about that time for a new journal entry, as a lot has happened since last I was seen lurking about this site. I have new Honour Amongst Thieves Questions and Answers podcasts, Amnesia videos, and photos, as well as news on my current job(s), and the results of
's fantastic Louis cosplay. So how about I just start from the beginning?

Brendan Julian was over in Singapore for three weeks towards the end of my summer break, which was responsible for most of my absence. For those who don't yet know, he is the voice for Louis Despatis in my (as of yet) unfinished animation. Much fun was had. As well as dragging him all over the island and introducing him to all manner of wild and weird Asian cuisine, we also spent a lot of time at Universal Studios, Singapore, with my LASALLE besties for Livia's birthday. Brendan got to hug Reese's Pieces man, Beetlejuice tried to kiss me, and then chased Livia around to give her "Birthday Spanks". Yep, lots of fun.
The official Converse-five!
Brendan and I are also officially an item now, so that's a thing.

Videos: While Brendan was over, we held another Questions and Answers Podcast for Honour Amongst Thieves with the other voice actors, SungWon Cho and Richard Johnston. Links below:
Also, Brendan Plays Amnesia, and nearly pisses his pants on several occasions:
Remember, if you have any additional questions you would like me to ask the VAs at a future date, ask them in the HAT Podcast QnA Journal, here: canadian-rainwater.deviantart.…

Work: And now the summer is over, and it's back to work. Literally, in this case. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Honours in Animation, I am now teaching assistant for 2D animation at LASALLE College of the Arts. While I did get an offer in the industry, I was financially unable to accept the job. I understand several people familiar with me via DA are attending the animation course now, and I apologize if I scared the everliving heck out of you by turning up to your classes.
While my position is full-time, I have several hours "free" between classes, during which I work on my commissioned work. As I have no classes on Thursday, it has been designated my Do-Not-Touch-Me-While-I-Am-Animating-Or-I-Will-Bite-Your-Hand-Off Day while I work on finishing my animation, Honour Amongst Thieves.

My workspace needs more motivational posters.
My intention is to finish the animation before my contract expires at LASALLE, so that I have more completed work in my portfolio. I will also attempt to practice more painting and style variation, based on feedback from artists in the industry.
Work ... for Voltaire?: As well as employment at LASALLE, I have also been collaborating with author, singer, songwriter, animator, and one of my biggest idols--Voltaire--to produce a children's book. I have been slowly chipping away at the illustrations, though the pressure is on to meet a Christmas launch. If you're curious to find out more information about the book, as well as seeing some sneak-peeks of the illustrations, you may want to follow Voltaire's official Facebook page:
For more Sneak-Peeks of my illustrations, including the first few stanzas of the story, you may find this official Vlog interesting:
This, coupled with my full-time work, is the primary reason for the lack of personal work around here. I barely have the time to breathe at all right now.

Cosplay! And on the topic of losing one's breath,
did a FANTASTIC job putting together her very own Louis outfit, and parading around all day in those killer heels! For those who have not yet seen her photos (taken professionally, too) I definitely encourage you to follow the links below to her DeviantArt account:

As well as strutting about the con as Louis, she also gave him the opportunity to show off his flamboyant fashion in the Cosplay Contest parade up on stage: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKLVrp…
She also hosted the Beginners Pirate Cosplay panel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPDi4O… AND the Beginners Pirate Cosplay panel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HjoLU…
She also attended the Masquerade Ball as Louis, and even got her photo taken and showcased in the My San Antionio Internet Newsletter, here:
AND she also hosted the Cosplay Dating Game as Louis, while half-asleep with her feet killing her, no less: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkMcHk… My dear girl, is there anything you didn't do?!
Resa, you did a FANTASTIC job, giving Louis full, fabulous justice. You not only turned out an insanely detailed costume in a limited amount of time, you also attempted to emulate his voice, and managed to preserve his integrity as much as possible in the face of howling Yaoi-fanatics. Thank you so much for sharing your work here, and feel free to do it again whenever you feel like it.

So that's what I've been up to these past few weeks, for those wondering where I went. I hope everyone else had a fantastic summer ... no really, enjoy it while you can!

That's fantastic, Sak. Glad everything is working out for you
You and Brendan look so happy and beautiful together!!! I'm so happy for you! (I'm spending my summer with my man too, who came to visit me from US
)
Also you're working so hard, I'm truly amazed! I want to wish you lots of strength, motivation and inspiration! And may the Force be with you!
It is true, that's why we're on skype almost 24/7 hah.
Spending Christmas with your beloved is wonderful ^^
Also, congrats on your busy busy work schedule! I'm really glad to see you growing more and more and becoming quite the artist. You're getting your name out there and looking good doing it!
Anyone else here been secretly shipping these two before the news came on? Can we officially call this cannon? Cuz I am.
Next time you flirts meet up one of you has to give the other a makeover, if you know what I mean.
Congratulations to the new couple :-D you look awesome together!
Can't wait to listen to the new podcast!
And that children's book things looks lovely, I wish you luck with that! And with the other work, too ^^
You seem to be really busy, so good luck with your work and stay fabulous.
YES! My OTP HAS COME TO LIFE! Don't know how much I shipped you and Brendan, so now I'm extremely happy.
My goodness girl! Is there anything YOU didn't do? Animation, teaching, working on a children's book, podcast, being awesome with Brendan. WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO?!
And it was totally my honour to cosplay as Louis and I am so happy you like how I portrayed him. I really really enjoyed it and people know who I was too. A few of them came up slowly and said, "Wait...does your character appear on deviantart a lot?" Then I mention HAT and they instantly know and I was nearly toppled over quite a few times. A really good memory was an artist in the artist alley at the convention who shouted at me really loud, "LOOOOUUUUUIIIISSSSS!" I am so glad I got to cosplay him and will totally do it again some time...perhaps in colder weather and with my stage one girlfriend as James if that is ok with you.
Again, thank you for sharing your life with us and thank you so much for letting me be Louis for a weekend. I had a blast!
I probably would've went off too during the dating game, but I was too tired at the moment. (That night it was hosted by someone else. The one I hosted the next night was way more contained.)
So so glad you liked it!
I should probably thank you though because the girl I had been crushing on hard was working cosplay staff and she waited for me for a long time just to see my Louis cosplay. Turns out later she was telling the other people working with her, "Oh my god! Resa is killing me with her beautiful cosplay!" And turns out she has been crushing on me for the longest time! So in a way, cosplaying Louis helped bring us together and we're planning to date! (This is also the person I want to cosplay James with me.) So thank you thank you for that!
My my, Louis the Matchmaker! Me and Brendan, you and your girl ... we have to be careful this doesn't become a trend! I look forward to seeing her as James, though, it sounds like it will be awesome!
