I frequently get questions about LASALLE College of the Arts, where I study. Unfortunately I don't have time to go into tremendous detail when answering them, as much as I'd like to explain more what it's like. But maybe these can give you a glimpse:
Is the 2D/3D animation program different then the one they offer in Vancouver? What made you go to Singapore if it is the same?? I'm thinking about applying sometime this month but I want to make sure I'm getting the same kind of deal. How long is your course? The one in Vancouver is for a year, just one semester after the other for a total of 3. But I noticed you said you have a 3 year scholarship? Are you taking other courses as well then besides the animation?
Sorry I know I just bombarded you with questions. If you have time for any of them I would really appreciate it : )
Oh sorry I guess that Sounded confusing. LaSalle has a location in Vancouver called LaSalle College International that offers the 2D/ 3D Animation course. I was wondering what made you go to Singapore since it's offered in Canada? And are you taking other course since you mentioned you have a 3 year scholarship? Because the course offered in Vancouver, if it's the same, is 3 Semesters for a total of 1 year. I'm assuming your project Honour Amongst Thieves is from that particular 2D/ 3D Animation course? I'm asking about it because I want to apply and do what you're doing in life with the animation and character designs and such and it's nice to hear from someone who's been in the program! ; )
I don't know much about LaSalle in Canada, I'm not even sure it's the same LASALLE, since we were specifically instructed that the LASALLE here is spelled all-caps, and not "LaSalle". I'm in Singapore because I've lived here for the past eight years and I'm a PR - permanent resident, despite holding a Canadian passport. I am more comfortable with the environment, the people, and the location. I can't speak for the course at LaSalle, but I am very happy with what I've been taught so far at the animation course here. It's focus is not just on animation, but on storytelling, and it hones all sorts of other useful skills in the industry such as life drawing, landscape and perspective, and colour theory, and we're exposed to different mediums such as stop-motion, whiteboard animation, 3D, 2D, lightboxes and digital, the whole shebang.
I can't imagine cramming these last three years into one. I feel like you must lose something.
Hrm interesting. I didn't think there would be two different schools with the same name that offer the same things ha. Silly me. [link] This is what I have been looking at any rate. It probably doesn't offer everything you've done if you've been at it for three years for sure but there's no way in hell I can get to Singapore let alone afford it so I'll have to settle for this.
I didn't realize you've lived there so long, sorry for the assumptions!
I figured it out. The College in Vancouver I was talking about is a sister school to yours in Singapore. It took some digging around but I managed to find it! That's why they're different but have similarities! I also found out more about the program and it's a condensed course but you graduate with a Diploma in 2D/3D animation all the same : ) Also you don't get to do as many things as your course offers but the fundamentals are there at the very least.
I just really want to thank you for... Just existing I guess! If I wasn't so inspired by your work I wouldn't have made these first steps to get into this program and I just got accepted yesterday and couldn't be more excited. So thanks <3
