... Also known as Commodore James Hunter, because he quite literally hunts down Captain Louis. You can't exactly blame the man; Louis does everything he can to excite the Commodore's temper and enjoys getting chased around. It's the attention, you see.
OMG there are so many things in carater creation one must take under consideration. Like James' collar for example. I would never though of what impression would it make. You should write a guide to caracter design xD
Wow this was so long ago. Man I'm bad at commenting but I think this time it was a good thing. Now I get to go back in time and read your process on this. Haha, James with curlies! Heehee.
Now, I absolutely loves James and really want to marry him. However - and please correct me if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit that most of my naval knowledge from this general time period comes from the Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian - I thought that Commodore was, in the BRN, a temporary title given to a post-captain who commanded squadrons of more than one ship, like if they were doing a battle and needed someone in charge of the thing as a whole instead of just his own ship? Although actually, I suppose you could be kept in command of the squadron for a very long time if the ships in the squadron are in a semi-permanent state of commission together... In any case he's gorgeous and funny and I love him. Really. Forgive my rambles!
May I also add that I recently got rejected by a college and your pirates and commodores and hapless ensigns have really cheered me up? You're awesome.
I think that's what a Commodore is like. In the bigger scheme of things James starts as a captain and works his way up. He comes from humble beginnings, unlike Louis the pirate Captain, who ironically is born into the French aristocracy. But I'll be doing a lot more research before turning the characters' stories into a graphic novel, as I'd like to do someday.
I'm sorry to hear about your college troubles, and hope they start to look up soon. I'm also very glad that my stuff helped to brighten your day even a little bit. It's always great to hear.
Awesome character designs, mate. And I like the plot ideas behind the two! I do agree with one of the commenters that the ridiculous proportions of Louis clash a little with the relatively normal proportions of James Hunter, but other than that they look great!
